Welcome

Charlotte Roberts is an Aotearoa New Zealand based artist who lives in a cottage by the sea at the foot of an old volcano in Te Pataka o Rakaihautū (Banks Peninsula).

A spinner and weaver working with locally sourced materials, she specialises in natural dyeing and hand blending fibre on a drum carder. She farms her own Blacknose Valias sheep and has plans to produce a line of locally sourced and milled knitting yarns.

Inspired by the natural world, Charlotte crafts textiles from raw materials with ecological cycles in mind: everything she makes is from natural fibres and is designed to be composted at the end of its usable life.

She weaves scarves and creates artworks with her own handmade yarn, in addition to natural dyeing locally grown and processed wool and fibres using organic dyestuff harvested with the rhythm of the seasons.
